Sewa International Appeal to Contribute Towards Myanmar Cyclone Relief Effort

Sewa International, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation, is urgently soliciting funds to assist victims of the recent Nargis cyclone in Myanmar. The cyclone has left more than 100,000 dead/ missing in Myanmar. Scale of disaster is such that more than a million people are rendered homeless. Those who are alive could not get the food, medical and other essential supplies. A big part of Irrawaddy delta is still water flooded. There is an urgent need for food packets, fresh water, clothing, medication and temporary shelter for the victims. Sewa International is providing emergency assistance and distributing emergency kits to cyclone affected people in Myanmar. Donations will be used to purchase these needed items for immediate distribution and rehabilitation.

Sewa International is providing youth from ages 18-30 with an incredible volunteer opportunity through their Yuva For Sewa (YFS) program. YFS has chosen projects of one to three months duration available in the United States, the Caribbean, and in India. The projects are designed for the youth to channel their talent, energy and enthusiasm and helping them in making a difference for the communities they volunteer in. There are projects available in various fields such as Basic Education, Technical Education, Self Employment, Women Empowerment, Healthcare, and others that will match your interest.

2007 in Review

With all your support, year 2007 has been a great success. Below are the highlights of 2007:

India Floods Appeal 2007 - Orissa specific

The flood situation in India this year has been the worst in the living memory, as stated by the United Nations. We are already at work providing relief & succor to the flood victims in Bihar and successively taken up the challenging task of rehabilitating flood victim of Orissa. Millions have been affected due to these severe floods and thousands have been rendered homeless and will have to begin their lives from scratch then the flood waters recede.

This is the opportunity for all of us to do our part in providing some help and relief to those affected.

The country of Peru was hit with a massive earthquake on August 16th. More than 600 people died and thousands were injured. Survivors are desperate for food and water.
