About NY Metro Chapter

Sewa's activities in the NY Metro started in April 2011. Currently, our activities in this region are driven by young adults, and hence they also operate under the name - 'Youth For Sewa'. As the name suggests, our projects here are mostly centered around youth involvement in social welfare.

What is Youth for Sewa?

'Youth For Sewa' (YFS) is Sewa International’s initiative to encourage volunteerism among college students & young adults and to help them find meaningful opportunities to serve the community. YFS activities can be broadly classified into two categories:

  1. Fund-raising for worthy causes (like Vidyadaan)
  2. Taking part in local (in the US) community service projects like Publicolor, Adopt a Highway, Provide food to local shelters, Meals On Wheels, Community Parks’ Cleanup etc.

Currently, most YFS efforts are in the NY Metro region. However, Sewa has a lot of successful projects all over the US. We have also been receiving a lot of interest from student clubs and young professionals across the country to collaborate and work with YFS in achieving their sewa goals.
