Sewa International (USA) manages projects in India and the US. Sewa International is an umbrella for 45,000 projects and programs all over India, 80 types of activities and has more than 150,000 volunteers involved in running these programs and projects. With the support of NGOs with over 25 years of experience and the capability to develop volunteers from the local population has enabled Sewa International to sponsor and uphold a variety of activities all around the world, the majority of which are community based including healthcare, education, child welfare, and relief and rehabilitation for disaster victims. Sewa USA helps people regardless of caste, class, creed, color or religion.

CLOUDBURST, resulting into flash floods, triggered by sudden overnight heavy rain on August  6th killing approximately 150 people as per latest report and over 500 people are reported missing. Many people are still believed to be trapped under debris of buildings. Five villages – Nimmo, Basgo, Shapoo, Faing and Ney, apart from Choglamsar and Leh town, have been very badly hit. All  communication systems, bus stands, Hospital and many other buildings have been washed away. Leh airport inundated with mud and water has been rendered un-operable.
A distance of 100 miles, connecting Pang village on the Rohtang – Leh highway up to Nimoo on the Leh – Srinagar highway has been hit, hence the road connectivity to the city has been cut from rest of India.
    
SEWA INTERNATIONAL, started relief activities in association with local partner organization Sewa Bharati of Jammu & Kashmir from the early morning of August 6th by providing food and temporary shelter to the affected.
There is an urgent need to provide relief to the flood affected. SEWA INTERNATIONAL USA is appealing for donation to help these unfortunate victims.  Your support will help reduce the sufferings of these people in the flood affected area of Leh, Laddakh.

Urgent Appeal to support Earthquake Victims in Port-au-Prince, Haiti

 Thousands of people are dead in Port-au-Prince,Haiti after a disastrous earthquake of 7.0 magnitude struck on Tuesday January 12, razing major infrastructure in the capital including many neighborhoods, the Parliamentary building, Presidential Palace, the main cathedral, the main prison, the UN building among others. With many hospitals in ruins (Doctors without Borders lost three hospitals) in this poor Caribbean country, the earthquake has affected 3 million people - a third of the country. Disaster relief has just began in this poorest country in the western hemisphere with 80% of the people below the poverty line and 54% in abject poverty. Two thirds of the labor force has no formal jobs.

Immediate relief is needed. Many hundreds are trapped and rescuers are working very hard. Medical supplies are in shortage.

SEWA International is planning to donate the proceeds to Haiti based non-profits towards HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

At least 130 people have been killed and thousands more have been rendered homeless since Sept. 30th, 2009 due to heavy flooding in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Hundreds of people are trapped in flood waters waiting to be rescued. While the Indian army continues to provide help, Sewa International volunteers are engaged in rescue and relief work. Sewa International USA appeals to all to donate generously to provide rescue, relief, and rehabilitation to the flood victims.
