2009 Fellows

Nirbhay Dhapodkar is a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying Finance, Accountancy, Technology and Management. Nirbhay volunteered in Pune, Maharashtra for 2 ½ months researching about Micro-financing and Self-Help groups.

 

 

 

Aparna Garg is an undergraduate student at Boston University majoring in Economics and Journalism. Aparna spent 2 ½ months working with Youth for Sewa (a Bangalore-based NGO) documenting the success stories of slum development projects of various NGOs in Bangalore, Karnataka.

 

 

 

 

Bharat Kusuma is an undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Mathematics. Bharat spent 2 months researching about Micro-financing and Self-Help groups for communities in Pune, Maharashtra.

Vijay Swamy, a junior at Carnegie Mellon studying Business and Law, spent one month researching the details of legal help that people in the slums require as well as brainstorming fundraising ideas for the local NGOs.
 

 

 

 

 

Apurva Kaushik is a student at Case Western Reserve University studying Philosophy. This summer she volunteered in Bangalore, India and Guyana teaching English and Vedic Math respectively.
