Wisconsin Singing Idol Competition 2025 - Guidelines

• Please join respective whatsapp group where rest of the important instructions would be shared. It's only for contestants. Each of the contestant parent in group singing is required to join. Do not join unless you have registered for the competition.  To avoid spam whatsapp autorobots joining the group, please type in the url in your phone browser to join the group.

• Last Date to register for competition is 26th Sep (Friday) for Milwaukee. ast Date to register for competition is 17th Oct (Friday) for Madison.
• Reason is: We need a weekend to consolidate the registrations and order trophies based on no. of registrations which takes a week. 

Awards for Adults (Age 18+) : Based on a feedback received , we will not be ranking the adult singers. Instead we will have multiple categories of awards so most of the singers can be recognized for their specialty or talent.  Here are some of the awards. 

• Best Stage Presence : Rubric: Confidence, audience engagement, movement, expressions, and overall charisma.
• Best Vocal Performance : Rubric: Voice quality, pitch accuracy, range, clarity, and control (balance of power and softness).
• Soulful Singer Award : Rubric: Depth of emotion, ability to touch hearts, smoothness and warmth of tone, sincerity in delivery.

• Most technically challenging song choice: Rubric: Song choices that include lot of music techniques, classical, voice modulation

• Best Modern / Contemporary Style Singer : Rubric: Creativity in improvisation, trendiness of style, pop appeal, ability to connect with today’s audience.

• Vocal Flexibility Note Specialist Award: Rubric: Ability to hit and sustain very high or very low notes with accuracy, power, and ease, without straining.

Each singer can get only 1 of these awards. Additionally we will have the following award for each contestant combination

Audience Choice Award: Rubric: Based on audience votes, applause meter, or live voting. - This will engage the audience as well.

Awards for Kids (1-12th Grade) : Kids would be ranked and given trophies 1st, 2nd  3rd etc.  We will also have Exceptional performance vibe awards to promote talent.  

On Stage Performance Rules and Guidelines

• Contestant gets 3:30 min per song (15 sec grace time). It is perfectly fine and encouraged to end the song earlier but exceeding the time limit will result in negative points. The participants will be penalized for not following the rules on time limits.
• Karaoke music would be provided by the participant. Shruti is allowed but other live instrument (tabla, guiter etc.) is NOT allowed.
• Group contains maximum 5 participants.
• Up to 140 points would be evaluated by a team of judges.
• Up to 30 points would be decided based on audience votes. Please encourage your friends to join the contest and vote for you (and other contestants) using an online form available to only those present at that time. Audience entry is completely FREE.
• Reading the lyrics from a paper is not encouraged but allowed whereas holding or using any electronic device (phone etc.) in hand or otherwise (for queues or feedback) is not allowed.
• This is an “Indian film songs” competition. participants singing non filmy classical music renditions will be disqualified.
