Sewa International was awarded a USD 50,000 Love Takes Action award from the New York Life Foundation, as a recognition for Sewa's ongoing efforts to help support communities across the United States during the coronavirus pandemic.

Benevity Ranks Sewa International Among Top 10 Causes

Benevity Inc., the leading provider of global corporate purpose software, ranked Sewa International among the top of charitable organizations supported by companies and their employees in 2021. In 2020 Sewa International was ranked 375 in Benevity's list, and at 690 in 2019.

Texas Volunteer of the Year Award to Sewa's Volunteer Madan Luthra

Since COVID-19 hit the Houston community, Madan G. Luthra volunteered more than 30 hours a week to support families in distress through Sewa International’s Family \Services program. In addition to answering calls on the nonprofit’s helpline and connecting families to groceries, supplies, funeral arrangements, and other social services, Madan Luthra was featured for his efforts in Houston Chronicle’s “Heroes of the Front Line”.

Sewa International day on 13 April - Houston Mayor's Announcement

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Council Member District F Tiffany D. Thomas Proclaimed April 13th 2022 as “Sewa International Day”. Houston Chapter president Gitesh Desai received the award in a live virtual session streamed from the Houston City Hall.

Onestar Foundation recognition

OneStar Foundation Spotlighted Sewa’s AmeriCorps Program. The president & CEO of OneStar Foundation, Chris Bugbee, sent Sewa a special note of appreciation. “Houston has experienced tremendous growth, which has translated into a steady increase in demand for Sewa’s services, especially in disaster relief and education,” he said.

FEMA partnership day recognition

Sewa International is featured as a partner organization by. the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during their partnership day month-long celebrations between July 17 and Aug 17 inn 2022. Sewa was featuired by FEMA inn 2021 as well.

Global Seven (G7) Award, Houston

The Houston Chapter of Sewa International received the prestigious Global Seven (G7) Award given by the Houston International Trade Development Council (HITDC) in the category of “Outstanding Nonprofit Organization”. The award was given at HITDC’s Fifth Annual Gala at the Ballroom at Bayou Place in downtown Houston on Friday, May 25.

Sewa International honored with AMEC award

During the 11th annual Congressional Global Community, American Multi Ethnics Coalition Inc., (AMEC) along with Congressman Danny Davis, presented Sewa International the organization of the year award. AMEC commended Sewa's help in sending oxygen concentrators and other Covid supplies to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Guyana, Iraq, South Africa, Suriname, and Trinidad. Sewa International could collect over $32 million during the pandemic with 150,000 individual donors and 5,000 volunteers.

Jackson, the 56th Mayor of the City of Cleveland, offered this Proclamation to Sewa International Cleveland Chapter in recognition of the Fundraising Concert by the internationally renowned singer Kailash Kher."Sewa International Cleveland Chapter’s Family Services Center initiative includes providing emergency support services to needy families as well as health and wellness education and awareness programs to the Cleveland community; and, SEWA means, “service above self,” he said.

The youth volunteer of the Sewa Houston chapter Kaushiki Tewary was recognized as a top 3 youth volunteer in the Houston area for the year 2015.

Special Congressional Recognition

The Special Congressional Recognition was presented to Sewa International on behalf of the Ninth Congressional District of Texas by the US House of Representatives on September 10, 2011. It commended Sewa’s commitment and dedicated service to the community by empowering and educating families throughout the greater Houston area.

Houston Department of Health and Human Services' Certificate of Recognition

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services presented a Certificate of Recognition to Sewa International VYASA for their dedication and partnership with the Diabetes awareness and wellness network on November 22, 2014.

Greater Houston Service Award

Sewa International USA, the Houston chapter, and its volunteer Vasudev Singh were honored at the 30th annual Greater Houston Service Awards luncheon on May 15, 2014 by Volunteer Houston. Awards were presented to finalists in 10 different categories: Animal welfare and wildlife, arts, and recreational activities, health services, civic and community development, human services, disaster services, military, and volunteer services, education and youth services.
