Overview

Sewa Chicago is an active Sewa chapters with a wide range of projects and activities like Sponsor A Child, Leadership Development program for Youth, Stop Diabetes Movement, Raising Awareness on volunteerism, Diwali Food Drive.
 
This chapter continues to grow and help families in the Chicago Area regardless of color gender, race, religion, or national identity all around the year. All are encouraged to participate, volunteer, and donate to this growing chapter.

Family services are designed to provide families tools for leading more meaningful fulfilling lives.

Project to support education of children from under served communities in India for $240 per year.

    Sewa Chicago LEAD 2023

    (LEAD - Leadership, Education And Development) 

    Youth Engagement Program for High School Students 

    General Eligibility: Incoming and Current High Schoolers (Grade 8-12). All participants should always exhibit commitment to the values of Sewa and act with integrity and discipline.

    Program Dates : January 2nd to October 31st, 2023

    Selection Criteria: Limited seats; enrolled on a first-come first-serve basis. Open to all nationalities, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

    Registration Fee: $75 per student. $40 for additional sibling.

    Registration Deadline: December 31, 2022

    Commitment : Each participant is expected to commit to at least 100 hours of volunteering.

    As a part of the LEAD program, young adults are provided with opportunities to participate and / or lead various activities and to earn volunteering hours. Sewa International will provide certificates as well as a recommendation for Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for qualified participants.

    Here is sample list of activities:

    1. Highway Cleanup

    2. Blood Drive

    3. Environment and Sustainability

    4. Create your own DIY initiative to address community needs.

    5. SewaDiwali Food Drive

    6. Fundraising to support Sewa Projects

    7. Design to Lead - Design thinking methodology to address community needs, developed by Stanford University Professor

    8. Holistic Individual Development

    NOTE: All the LEAD participants are requested to sign the waiver form and send it to sewachicago@sewausa.org.
