Like all of Sewa’s projects, ASPIRE relies on the continued dedication of volunteers to enrich the experience for all the children. ASPIRE students always get so excited to see a volunteer return time and again because, for them, it’s a very special relationship. As a volunteer, you become more like a new family member to help provide stability for the child.

Many people interested in volunteering are hesitant to help as a tutor because they have no teaching experience. Prospective volunteers should keep in mind a few points:

• ASPIRE teachers will help guide volunteers.
• Language and math tutoring are not the only activities at ASPIRE.
• Volunteers can lead a game, guide arts&crafts, play sports, teach cooking, or share any other interests with the students.
• What’s important isn’t perfect teaching, but showing up to be there for the children.
