Feed the Needy


Our Process

  • Coordinator gets notified via text or a phone call about a food drive 2 Weeks in advance

  • Coordinator determines the menu

  • Organizing the event:
    • Notify/Request people to donate cooked food (per menu) in different WhatsApp group
    • Interested individuals’ private message the coordinator
    • Coordinator sets up a private group for each event for the people who would be donating food – closes the group at the end of the event

  • Cooked food is dropped off at the coordinators place at a predetermined time - again established in the private group

  • Kids, typically from the food donor’s household, sign up for packing food to earn volunteering hours**

  • Coordinators contacts, “Food for Life” to delivery/distribute the food for needy

  • Alternatively, Sewa volunteers drive** the food to a distribution center run by Food for Life, Food For life take care of the food distribution.

  • Request pictures of the food drive is possible and post them in Sewa group(s)

  • Coordinator keeps track of number of people served, time spent, cost, resource in kind and closes the drive
