Electronic Recycling Drive

Sewa North Jersey’s Commitment to a Greener Future

At Sewa North Jersey, our young volunteers are proving that meaningful change begins with small, conscious actions. Through a series of Electronics Recycling Drives held in March, May, and July 2025, our LEAD volunteers have actively contributed to promoting environmental responsibility while fostering community engagement.

In March 2025, 82 dedicated volunteers participated across four collection days, gathering a wide variety of small electronics such as power cords, cell phones, laptops, keyboards, modems, and more. Items were carefully packed in clear bags labeled with the participant’s name, ensuring responsibility and accountability. The collected electronics were responsibly recycled at designated drop-off locations, allowing each student to earn 5 volunteer hours while supporting sustainable practices.

Continuing this momentum, the May 2025 drives on May 22nd, 24th, 29th, and 30th saw over 50 volunteers stepping up to collect unused electronics from households, keeping them out of landfills and promoting eco-friendly disposal methods. These efforts emphasized how collective action, even in small steps, can lead to a cleaner, greener environment.

The July 2025 drive further empowered volunteers to be stewards of change by encouraging each participant to collect 10 small electronic items, carefully label them, and drop them off at collection points in Morris Plains and Montville between July 18–19 and July 25–26. The collected items were then delivered to the Parsippany Recycling Center on July 27th, with volunteers and parents joining hands for the final drop-off.

Across all drives, our volunteers demonstrated leadership, accountability, and compassion, reinforcing how youth-driven initiatives can make a tangible difference. By safely recycling electronic waste and encouraging responsible disposal practices, the Sewa North Jersey community is building a sustainable future—one device at a time.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, families, and supporters who made these initiatives possible. Together, we are not only reducing environmental impact but also nurturing a culture of service, responsibility, and stewardship for generations to come.
