Sewa’s Partner Resuscitates

Kodagu Disaster Victim’s Wedding Plan

When bride to be Manjula, and her family saw a part of the hill sliding towards their home in Emmettalu in MekkanduruKodagu (Karnataka, India) they immediately rushed out of their home – with only the clothes they wore but  a strong will power to live. Sheltered in a relief camp, though most wedding preparations were already done, Manjula’s family were contemplating postponing it since they had nothing left now. But Sewa’s partner organization Sevabharathi, with support from other organizations, friends, and well-wishers came to their rescue.

On Sunday, August 26, Manjula tied the knot with Rajith, who is from Kerala. Forgetting their pains and sorrows of the harrowing landslides, over 500 guests attended the marriage to bless the couple. “We had nothing and now, seeing this, I am so happy”, said an emotional Manjula.

Sevabharathi is working on another wedding in Kodagu, planned for September 12. Kudos to these dedicated volunteers.
