REGISTRATION CLOSES JUNE 19TH
This program is for students going into 6th to 8th grade. Online lessons will teach advanced math to help prepare for the AMC Math Competition in November. These classes are an excellent way for kids to learn advanced math, creativity, and test out their math skills. This course taught by AP and Honors math students, many with previous tutoring experience. The price of the course is a one time $50 fee. The money will go to underprivilledged kids in Palo Alto. Classes will be on Wednesday 3-4 PM and Saturday 4-5 PM from June 20th to August 29th. There will also be optional tutoring sessions on extra days to help students catch up and understand the material.
The class will cover several units, across number sense and geometry.
In number sense, students will learn about:
- logical reasoning
- patterns and counting techniques
- fractions, decimals, and percents
- factors and proportions
- LCM and GCF
- solving equations and functions
- sequences and series
In geometry, students will learn about:
- perimiter and area
- similar triangles
- transformations
- the Pythagoream theorm
- angles and triangles
- rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles
- 3D shapes and volumes
