#SEWADIWALI – Serve (Anna Daan) With Affection
#SewaDiwali is an idea to collectively serve the local community by providing sustenance to those who are currently in great need of it. This is the first year that these various organizations have come together to collectively pursue such an undertaking. The basic logistics are simple. Anyone can offer non-perishable food items to their local collection center.
Collection Centers in every township will arrange the delivery to the township food drive programs. Before delivering the food to the township, collection centers would update the website with the information regarding what they have delivered. A final report of the total collected and distributed items would be created and distributed at the end of the event.
We need more volunteers and organizations from dharmic traditions (e.g. Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist), who celebrate Diwali at home, to join this movement. This is a great opportunity for everyone, including children and students, who are interested in participating in Sewa that benefits their local community. You or your organization could be part of the collection centers in your own township.
